The Paleo diet (often referred to as the hunter/gatherer diet) is inspired by the eating habits of our ancestors. It promotes a balanced, nutritious diet based on fresh fruits and vegetables, high protein meats and high in Omega-3 nuts and seeds. It’s a very simple lifestyle that ensures you get plenty of vitamins and minerals into your diet. These types of foods contain lots of calories, fats and salts and are responsible for many modern day diseases like diabetes, heart disease, obesity and cancer.

Doctors who have researched the history of the human diet have concluded that Paleo recipes have been a staple from as far back as 2.5 million years to about 8,000 B.C. Our ancestors, who HAD to be lean and muscular to catch their food, relied on protein to support strong muscles, healthy bones and a functioning immune system. They didn’t have access to hospitals or medical centers so keeping healthy was essential for their survival. Of course, you don’t need a bow/arrow or a spear to catch your food!
