Balti – probably the most confused curry shown on Youtube.
If you believe the hype, it all started in Birmingham in the late 70’s
The craze didn’t catch on here in the Northeast until about 5 years later.
Became popular in restaurants for a few years then died off like any craze.

For thirty years a restaurant Balti and it’s recognizable flavour is simply down to a spice mix, either powdered or paste, homemade or usually shop bought.
Here I show how to cook a Chicken Tikka Balti, with the novelty of cooking it in an original Birmingham Balti Pan, linked to Adils as described by the Birmingham Balti ambassador Andy Munro.
I quite like the novelty of using this pan so stay tuned for more Balti dishes.
